Hidden Armenian Treasures Tour

Most tours are organised in and around Van. Visit the two or three highlights like the Van Castle, the ruined church on Akdamar Island and eventually, the Hoshap Castle. As these are remnants of high cultural and historical value, we won't refrain from visiting them. As we have travelled the province extensively, we are lucky to know than Van has so much more to offer the visitor.

The scenery is incredible along the Lake Van and in the mountains south of it. Furthermore, many of the villages are situated in small paradises of lush green gardens, looking like small islands on steep mountain slopes.

The population is extremely hospitable, offering the visitor lots of insights into the daily life of people in remote mountainous areas. And hidden behind houses or in the bushes, one can find more often than not, the ruins of an Armenian church. To visit them all, would take the traveller more than a month.

Our tour is planned to show you the most beautiful churches in the loveliest natural setting, together with reasonable accessibility. In this tour, we will walk about 10 kilometres a day, mostly over existing dust roads and age-old walking paths.

We will visit many villages, where we will take our time for connecting with the local people, drinking tea and visiting the ruins of the local church. For lunch, we will picnic on shady places in the fields. On some days, we will have the opportunity to swim in the Lake Van, situated at an altitude of 1700 metres.
