Bodrum has a Mediterranean climate. Winters are mild and summers are quite warm with July and August temperatures reaching a maximum of 30°C / 86°F. Summer days in Bodrum are usually sunny although the days can feel quite humid and hot.
From May to October, Bodrum enjoys six months of sunshine with not a single drop of rain. Winter frost is unheard of and snow has never been seen in the Aegean region. The Turkish word for autumn is ‘Sonbahar', meaning second spring because after a small shower grasses and flowers once again start to grow, be it lesser abundant than in spring.
Best Time to Visit
The climate of Bodrum is greatly influenced by the mountains and plateaus that surround the city. The nearby Mediterranean and Aegean Sea also influence the climate to a large extent. The coldest months are January and February. Although the daytime temperature during these two months is a cold 10°C / 50°F, many Turks prefer to visit Bodrum during this time to get away from their even colder winters.
September and October are the best months for those who enjoy a more leisurely pace of life. Daytime temperatures during this time are perfect for a beach holiday, but it is comfortably cool to explore the historical sites in the surroundings of Bodrum too.
